Learning & Development

We want to make sure that you have all the knowledge and skills it takes to do your job to the best of your ability and achieve your full potential.

As a graduate, we’ll focus specifically on helping you to develop your commercial acumen, relationship building capabilities and, eventually, your leadership skills – helping you to become one of our future leaders.

It’s a natural process that falls into the following stages:

Stage 1

Building commercial acumen

Here we’ll support you to better understand what really drives a business like ours. You’ll take part in exercises that examine everything from share prices and annual reports to generating cash.

You’ll also review our wider strategic priorities, including food, retail and financial management. Ultimately, this stage is designed to help you make better, smarter business decisions.

Stage 2

Effective relationships

Building relationships with people internally, externally and at all levels is really important to what we do. Especially in your role. So, this stage looks to really harness the way you work with other people. Honing your skills further still, you’ll then move to focus on your ability to interact with clients and stakeholders in a way that builds trust that, ultimately, ensures the ongoing success of everyone involved.

Stage 3

Leading our people

In this stage, we’ll develop your understanding of the people strategy of Compass Group UK & Ireland – as well as the essential components of great leadership. At this point, we’ll provide you with all the tools you need to become an expert in performance management, talent management, succession planning and coaching – with a strong understanding that you can drive results through the people you work with.
